Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Anki App (the “Service”) collects and uses information for flashcard creation, study, and sharing features.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information: email address, display name (including names provided by Google / GitHub OAuth), and profile image URL.
  • Learning and content data: folders, decks, card content, study progress and history, and settings (theme, language, MFA preferences, etc.).
  • Technical data: logs, device details, IP address, browser data, and session/display preferences stored in cookies or local storage.
  • Optional details you share when contacting support.

2. Purpose of use

  • Identity verification and authentication (email login, Google / GitHub OAuth).
  • Service operations (deck creation, syncing study progress, and applying display settings such as language or theme).
  • Security and abuse prevention (MFA options, audit logs, rate limiting).
  • Product quality and feature improvements through aggregated analysis.
  • Customer support and important notifications.

3. Third parties and external services

We use Google / GitHub OAuth for authentication. Cloud providers may store or process data for infrastructure, monitoring, or analytics. We do not share personal data beyond the stated purposes unless required by law.

4. Use of cookies

We use cookies and local storage to maintain sessions, remember language/theme preferences, and optimize learning experiences. You can disable them in your browser, but some features may stop working.

5. Data retention and deletion

We retain data while your account is active and for legally required periods. You can change your account name in Settings. Contact us below to request account or data deletion.

6. Security

We apply safeguards such as encrypted transport, access controls, and optional multi-factor authentication. However, no method is perfectly secure.

7. Minors

The Service is designed for learning but does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without parental consent.

8. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will announce it in the app or on the website. We will provide appropriate notice for significant changes.
